Primary Teacher Scratch Training – University of Limerick, July 4th to 8th 2011 9am-1:30pm

The use of Scratch as a tool to develop pupils’ numeracy / mathematical skills

This is an introductory level Scratch course. We will explore how Scratch can be used to develop numeracy and mathematical skills. No prior experience with Scratch or programming is required. We will investigate how various strands of the primary mathematics curriculum can be implemented and demonstrated in a fun, exciting, hands-on and interactive way in Scratch. By the end of the course, participants will have acquired enough Scratch experience to implement a Scratch project that develops pupils’ numeracy/mathematical skills and to start using Scratch immediately in the classroom on return to school in September.

This course will be held in the Computer Science Building in UL : see http://www.ul.ie/main/places/campus.shtml (building number 7)

This course qualifies for 3 EPV days.  To register contact  clare.mcinerney@lero.ie on 061 202434
