Resources
Welcome to the Scratch Resources page. Scratch is a free application, developed by the MIT Media Lab, which allows users to create and share their own interactive stories, animations and games. It is easier to use than traditional programming languages as it consists of graphical blocks which snap together.
Below you can browse resources from either the Primary or Post-Primary level. Please select an option below. You can download Scratch Competition Certificates for your students that complete one or more of the Scratch modules below, if you register your students at scratch.ics.ie
Access teaching materials to introduce Scratch to primary level students (Ages 4-12 in Ireland). The materials include step by step lesson plans and activities which will allow students to create interactive stories, animations, games, music and art and share their creations on the web. At the same time, students will develop their problem-solving, communication and reasoning skills.
Access a comprehensive set of teaching materials to introduce Scratch to post-primary level students. The materials consist of 10 modules with step by step lesson plans and other resources. The materials were developed as a 45-hour Transition Unit for Transition Year students in accordance with NCCA guidelines but may be used with students of all ages. Teachers may pick and choose what to teach from the 10 modules to suit their needs.
